Hi :) I'm a Singaporean through and through, although I'm attending college in the US now. I've been duly impressed by my chem professor who entertains our boring classes with magic tricks now and then.
I've been casually browsing through the forums, and I realised that a substantial number of magicians are males! Curious. Well I'm hoping to shift the ratio just a little, by adding myself to the ranks of female magicians. I know a few cute card tricks, but I'm sure there's more to be learnt.
I'll be back in Singapore for a month from Friday, and maybe talk to some people here about becoming a more serious at this!
Cheers.
Michelle
p/s Does it matter I've the tiniest of hands and thus sleigh of hand tricks might just be that bit more difficult?

Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of SMC.
Its always nice to see a female magician, and I myself wonder at times why the ratio is so skewed.
Anyway I thought it would be helpful to list some of the female magicians who are also in SMC. I'm sure you must have heard of them already as they post quite often.
1) 'Magicbabe' Ning, who runs the internet magic shop magic boutique. A very capable performer. There's a post somewhere here with a link to a youtube video of her doing some awesome dagger manipulation.
2) yong_tianadeline is another female magician. She also is a fantastic balloon twister.
3) [Ling] is what we call a 'flourisher'. If you ever meet her just pass her a deck of cards and ask her to show you a thing or two. (If you've never seen XCM before, I won't spoil the surprise.)
(These are the few I know off, I probably may have missed some, so please do make your presence felt if you read this.)
Just PM any of them/us if you need help with anything. The mods here also organize meetings every now and then to meet the new faces. There's probably going to be one at the end of August I think.
Oh and about small hands. Completely irrelevant.
Enjoy your stay here.

Wow, its kinda rare to see female magician joining here. Anyway, Michelle nice to see you in this forum too and welcome to the SMC family.
By the way, what kind of tricks do you like? :)
As for the small hands, do not worry because it doesn't matter. You do not need to have big hands to perform magic to people. It is a technique and skills to make magic magicial and fantastic.
Cheers

Hi Michelle!
Welcome to the forums! It is always very nice to see another female magician joining us. Matt has more or less given a pretty good summary of the female magicians here in the forums. (Thanks Matt!)
Matt & Invisible are also rite when they say that small hands doesn't really matter. You will just got to work round that and get accustom to handling cards wif your tiny hands!
When you get back, you could probably get together with NING, she should be able to point you in the correct direction.
Hope you will enjoy your stay here in the forums
Cheers!
dry_gin
(P.S. You could even give NING a run for her money in future! :g: )

Hi, Michelle!!
Its always great to see another gal joining the ranks! Indeed the ration of guys to gals is more than a bit skewed, but we have at least one more to join to the ratio now. ^_^
The clips of Ning jie performing that mattlee is talking about can be found in this topic:
http://forums.singaporemagiccircle.com/ind...?showtopic=6918(PS. thanks for your compliments mattlee, and yea, there are a couple more gals in the forum, just that they are no longer active in the forums, so you missed them out.)
Michelle, you will be back for a month? Then you are just in time to catch JC Sum presenting South East Asia’s first ever MEGA ILLUSION - “The Impossible Teleportation”.
More details:
http://forums.singaporemagiccircle.com/ind...?showtopic=6570Small hands are no obstruction to learning magic, just maybe you might have to put in slightly more effort.
Enjoy your stay in the forum!

Is it me or how come I feel people are a bit more enthusiastic in replying to Michelle?
Ok, anyway, welcome! Tiny hands doesn't really matter, just use smaller cards or coins.

Hahah :) Thanks for the warm welcome. Good to know that tiny handers like me will still be able to practice magic. I've got to finish up my organic chem finals here, then back to Singapore on Friday. I'll definitely start looking into getting started with some books etc. Great to hear that there are fellow female magicians too.
I've been browsing the newbie forums and they really are pretty helpful!
