When someone tell u about whether he or she want to learn magic, how do you test him or see how sincere the person is? I have come across several people asking me to teach them but i have reject all until recently someone ask?

Hey Banghao, I think there are a couple of topics on this already.

Anyway, most of the time, for me, i will direct them to look for books that teach some very basic magic in the library. The serious ones will take the effort to go to the library and really search fo it, those who are just asking NEVER get around to it. So far, all who have asked has never gotten around to checking out even the books in the library.

Besides, even if they show serious interest, i think (for me), I will only direct them to more (better and more in-depth) resources rather than teaching them anything myself, since i do not feel i'm qualified to teach anyone magic at all.

I'll ask them to bring their magic books to meet up with me and I'll teach them from the books they brought, those who are really interested will go all out to meet up and learn, the rest will not even call up to ask for advice, it's very clear who are those with interest or just want to know the secrets.

I'll also include an advice (a test), to see how they respond, their reaction will show immidiately their true reasons for learning magic.

I always explain that Magic isn't something one learns to showoff or to understand the secret.

It's always far more than that...

Generally you can always see how passionate or what their real motive for learning is...

If they keep going "tell me la, tell me la"
you know they're probably just after the secret.

However if they say "This whole magic thing is interesting!
Is there any place I can learn? I don't mind paying."
Then you know they're more or less a good candidate.

Of course there are other signs and ways to see how sincere they are.
I always explain that magic is an art, a sort of entertainment that demands secrecy, discipline, drama and flare.
It's usually after elaborating a bit, that one would be able to see how sincere that person is.
