"For now, human levitation remains the subject of cartoons, fairytales and tales of the paranormal."

They forgot to add that it is also a subject of illusions.

Nice.

Though I guess most of the people here won't have a clue of whatever force they talking about, but I guess its the starting of the star wars generation, where reverse gravity will happen very soon. :)

Its like 10 years ago the discovery of nano tech, now it was so widely used. :)

have you guys heard of the hutchison effect? if you've watched the prestige, you know about nikola tesla and his inventions with electricity and all... might even strike a chord with you command and conquer fans (remember the tesla coils that can shock enemy troops??) :D

Anyways, check out this video on the hutchison effect. levitation of heavy objects, disappearances, disintegrations, fusing of objects... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7027255937915952897

no idea how true this is, because the video can easily be a fake, but it's just food for thought. remember that even houdin's patter moved with the times... when he did his broomstick levitation with his son, he claimed that it was hypnotism while his son was under the influence of ether (this drug they used in the past as a general anesthetic), but later, with the popularization of the whole electric movement (or something), the levitation became due to electromagnetic forces.

so mebbe you cld use the hutchison effect as a patter line if you're interested. otherwise, it's still pretty cool to read about it.
