For card magic, personally i think it's most beneficial for someone starting out to read a good book or watch a good DVD on basic card theories and sleights.
Dun worry about buying the fancy gimmicks yet.
For the books and videos, you can approach cynwell or any of the dealers we have on the forum. They will be glad to help you.
Cheers

There's no need for the membership at Magic Castle i think, you can get stuff cheaper than their member's price from other magic shops (other than Magic Wand) and there's no annual membership fees.
Or you can get from the dealers in the forum....

agreed. even the members prices at MC cannot beat prices here.

and are dvds available for rent at other magic shops?

Get some DVDs or books, it will help you from the basic level to the advance level. Just practice them well :)

Oh that shop at Kovan Street Magic sells novelties stuff, so it's not entirely a 'full' magic shop and they have very little DVDs around.
But anyway, to ease up your monetary burden, find some like-minded friends, and get some DVDs and books, it's a better way. Try Royal Road to Card Magic for some books.
Hope this will help. :)

if u are on a tight budget, just buy books. they are generally cheap and good, and will properly equip u with the basics and a solid foundation. they may be tough to read, but it will aid in ur ability to read magic literature, and allows more room for creativity, routining, patter and presentation as u try to intepret and adapt. dont give up!
im a little apprehensive about "sharing", "renting" or "lending" of magic stuff though.

I think you should stop bringing up all the old topics. You may get warned and I think after 7 months people should have been able to get the information already.
