Title: Dream Sessions…
Description: Who would you want to session with?

jeromefang - September 6, 2007 10:39 AM (GMT)
Hi Everyone,

Its been rather quiet nowadays in the forum. Come let me spice things up a bit. I was talking to Shade about sessioning and it spark me to wonder if I could be granted a wish of who to session with, who will be top my list? Ok here goes mine:

(1) Tommy Wonder (For his reknown knowlegde on theories, mis-direction and all things magic)

(2) John Ramsey (For his ultimate sense of misdirection)

(3) Cyril Takayama (For his fantastic showmanship and it'll just be cool to be able to hang out with him and find out more about him.)

(4) Gary Kurtz (After seeing Gary Kurtz's work with cards and coins, he really blew me away. A lot respect for this man. Too bad he does'nt do sleight of hand anymore)

(5) Geoffrey Latta (This underground coin guy made waves when he entered the scene and he has some amazing contributions to coin work)

There are actually still a few more but I would say these 5 would top my list. So what are yours? Do share it with everyone… ^_^

PS: Shade, must post yours ok? I want to see if what I speculated in my mind is correct…Thanks

Cheers
Jerome

My dream list:

1) Angela Funovits - The material that we perform is actually quite similar - cards and metal bending. I think it would be very educational if I could just watch how she presents the effects and reconciles the 2 genres together. Of course, thats all just an excuse to drool over her. She's hot.

2) Oz Pearlman - "Mr. Penguin man" The first person who opened my eyes to the wonderful world of sleight of hand via his videos. I would also like him to sign my BTP DVD. I like his visual style of magic as well.

3) Lennart Green - The ultimate card magician. For those that went for his lecture (I got an autograph.. WOOT!!) I'm sure you were standing in rockstar awe of the man himself. But the real reason I want to session with him is that I want to understand how he thinks. I mean, this is a man that DOES NOT use gaff cards in his material (anyone else notice that?) i.e he can pull off a 2 hour show with a normal deck of cards.

4) Derren Brown - His philosophy and approach towards the art of magic has had great influence on me. I would get him to sign my copy of 'Pure Effect'. And then I want to have a proper discussion with him about cause and effect in magic.

Ace - September 6, 2007 12:06 PM (GMT)
I remember Lennart Green did use gaff cards in one of his routines. I cannot remeber the name but he said that he felt ashamed when he used them lol.

My top list will be Lennart Green, Shoot Ogawa and Derren Brown.

Matt: Angela Funovits, ultimate choice la bro...What more can you ask more ya...A hot girl who shares the same hobby... ^_^ I second it as well and if things go well probably a more intimate session ah...haha...
Wooo Oz pearlman, I know who have this in his list. Our good friend Axl...

Jeff Mcbride, my idol ..impressive manipulation skills

Brad Christian, besides his g*yness, i heard that he has pretty cool sleight of hands skill

Jay Noblezada from penguin, youthful and energitic in performing magic

Lastly
Cyril ,to take a photo with him ,my gf likes him..haha

iNvIsIbLe - September 6, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
As for me is ..... :D

1)Cyril Takayama - This newage magician is very cool and full of SURPRISE with his magic!

2) Shoot Ogawa - His routine is very visual and also not easy to master..but I like his techniques and teaching.

3) Angela Funovits - Wow, a beauty who has the same hobby as me. Oh my god, she is hot too. :!!:

4) David Stone - A comedian magician who inspires me alot on his coin and card routines. Super awsome!

5) David copperfield - His illusions and card sleights make me full of wonders of how he does it!

Shade - September 6, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... This is an interesting topic...

I suppose my top 3 would be:

1) Dai Vernon - the vernon touch will be sorely missed in anything 'new'

2) Ed Marlo - just coffee with him would make me a happy man

3) Charlie Miller - possibly the ONLY man who could do a Classic pass at the table almost invisibly.

4) Derek Dingle - His name is really cool. He holds the world record for most number of passes per minute.

5) Ricky Jay - He's a real worker.

6) Ortiz, Nash, Green & Wimhurst - I'm a fan.

Sadly, the ones I really want to session with are gone. What a loss to the magic world.

Bernard, too much la you, there are kids here you know haha... So whats your list Bernard? Interested to know who coin guy would love to session with...

Shade, nice list. I predicted you would definitely have Marlo, Miller, Nash and Ortiz inside your list. How about Elmsley? I thought he would be fall in your list too... Btw, how many passes can Dingle do a minute. I thought the record is still held by Dr James Elliott.

Dan and Dave Buck. Jonas Haglund. Jordan Lapping. Scott Watters.

llamalamer - September 14, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
Ok... Heres mine. (In order of who I want to meet the most.)

Dai Vernon (gone... sigh)
S.W. Erdnase (gone... sigh)
Arturo de Ascanio (Makes me wanna learn Spanish)
Juan Tamariz
Darwin Ortiz
Chris Kenner

Their thinking, theories, technique and presentational ploys have inspired me. I'd wish I could meet these people.

muscleaxl - September 14, 2007 07:42 AM (GMT)
Hmm... I certainly wouldn't want to session with Tommy Wonder, Dai Vernon or Marlo... for obvous reasons.

But anyway, back to the main topic:

1. David Copperfield: An obvious choice. Just want to know how to get a supermodel girlfriend.

2. Criss Angel: Again, want to know how he hooked up Cameron Diaz, Britney Spears and all the Hollywood babes he was rumored to date...

3. Darren Brown: I want to learn how to shop with blank dollar bills and take others' wallet (seriously!!).

4. David Stone: Learn how to speak Freanch or at least with a French accent on the pretext of learning his coin magic.

5. Darwin Ortiz: Ask him to play mahjong and see if he still can cheat.

6. Greg Wilson: Ask him to bring along the busty, sexy female asisstant featured in his "On The Spot" video.

7. Banachek: Just like the sound of his name.. no, actually I prefer Uri Gellar, just that he should be a bit harder to find.

9. David Roth: Want to see what he can do beside coins,

10: Cyril: I'm sure he knows a lot of Japanese female actress.

Ok, the reason I named them is because they are the only magicians I know. Unlike my Brother Jerome who can easily rattle off obscure names I've never heard of... hmm... :P
