Title: Card Case Incident

Ace - September 19, 2007 06:03 AM (GMT)
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this topic.

Have you guys heard of this website? www.aceillusions.com

First of all this is NOT my website. My website has a very similar address.

The owner of the site is Aaron Chee.

He was working on a card case project. Dmann from Precision Magic ordered some of the card case from Aaron, but Dmann never recieved the card cases. Shortly after that Aaron was banned from the Magic Cafe and the whole card case thread was deleted.

Anyone knows what happened? Is it just a misunderstanding? Is there something wrong with the website?

Check out Ning's Diaries at the boutique. She had an entry about the person involved.

I believe you may have gotten yourself implicated because of the similarity shared in the name Ace Illusions. That is unfortunate. Perhaps you'll want to distance yourself from that name and do what you can to salvage the situation and your own reputation lest people associate you and him together.

Yup, exactly! I was banned from the Magic Cafe too!

they found out that this UGLY SINGAPOREAN had multiple usernames (Ace Illusions, Aaron Chee, Symmatrix and Cupmagic) to create marketing hype and false impressions of his “products” on the internet forum.

Right now, four of Aaron’s usernames have been banned from Magic Café after numerous complaints and evidence where brought up against him to Steve Brooks and his crew of moderators who manage the place.

My username is Ace illusions. The admin of Magic Cafe thought that "Ace illusions" is one of Aaron 's username! Hence my account was banned!!

I have got NOTHING to do with that F****** JERK! I almost ordered the card case from him.

I sent an email to the admin of Magic Cafe last week, but they did not response.

Ning, is it possible for you to help clarify that Ace Illusions is not one of Aaron's multiple username?

I should have used another username. Sigh :(

Singpaore is not a big place, and the magic circle is even smaller. I hope the police can locate this Aaron Chee Li Yao and send his sorry a** to jail. He sure ruined the reputation of Singapore magicians.

The Magic Cafe is undergoing some technical problems currently. The server crushed and all the info from this year feb to present has been lost permanently. So it might take a while for them to respond.

I would suggest that you try to contact them in your own capacity. Also, whatever you can do, make clear to all that you have no affliation to that person. Maybe you'll want to use a different username that's more original or something.

Good luck.

Thanks Jowhly! =)

Yup, I already clarified that I have no affiliation to Aaron Chee on the Magic Cafe.

I just registered with a new username "AndyAce"

Woah, i must speak out too. I'm Aaron, but i'm not Aaron(Chee). So please don't mistaken me for him and send me hate mail. Fan mail is appreciated though. :P

But seriously, i think this guy is a disgrace to Singapore and magic. Yeps.

Aaron

Wah, so its awlays better to get from trusted source.

Magicdow - September 20, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
This is the same guy that was on our forum with the user name "Syymatrix". He also released "Trufly" and "Symnergy".

He was banned in the cafe but joined them using another nick.

One interesting topic which he tried to con our members here.
Symmatrix

It is because of such people that we have to make our rules stricter to make this place safer.

Hey Ace, glad to know that every thing's been sorted out accordingly. It's a really unfortunate thing that you were mistakenly associated with the scammer because of the similar name.

Like Magicdow mentioned, this shady Aaron Chee guy goes by a whole lot of other names but the photo above was featured on his website - there's a particular line highlighted that's quite interesting. Maybe it's a sort of forewarning *wry grin* Click above to check it out. SAVE YOURSELVES!!!

Anyways. I know he's got a really crummy track record and I'm sure a lot of us are angry with him for smearing the good name of fellow Singapore magicians but what can we do? A lot.

Disassociate ourselves from a disgraceful fraudster like him and deal honestly, so other magicians (especially other from overseas) understand that not all Singaporean/ South East Asian magicians are greedy scum bags like him.

Tell those around you who you care about, least they also fall prey. Larry is right - Be careful with who you deal with, especially online because they can hide behind various false facades/ different usernames/ made-up profiles/ etc.

No one's perfect of course, but there's a difference when one still decides to continue down the dark path even after being given chances previously for past wrong doings. From what we know, Aaron Chee's victims on Magic Cafe are really angry (who wouldn't after losing their hard-earned money to goods that never came or things that weren't as advertised?) and with their evidence, are pursuing legal action against him.

Honestly, I just hope Aaron Chee changes for good. Really. Before it's too late.

LarryDK - September 20, 2007 09:14 AM (GMT)
And taken in Raffles MRT.

Its so able to track him now, got face, got IP. Just catch him and give him a smack. That shall teach him a lesson or two.

Wouldn't know for sure if the picture is even real. Frauds usually use fake information as much as possible.

Sigh the Magic Cafe deleted all the topics and posts on 19 Sep. My "clarifying post" was deleted too. :(

Those who re-registered after the crash, their information has now been overwritten and their original Café username and password are now once again active.

This means that my username "AndyAce" was overwritten by "Ace illusions". That means my account was still banned. :( :(

I cannot log in to the forums and I cannot contact the Magic Cafe Admins.

I think I really need some help here. :(

I don't think the photo is real. But still it is one of the clues we have now. Hope the police can track him down soon.

Send an email to Steve Brooks explaining the situation.

You can get his email on this page by clicking on the picture:

The picture is real. I've seen him before.

Ace - September 20, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
Thanks Jlowhy! I sent them 2 emails last week but they did not reply.

But it's ok now. I already registered a new account.

What!? The photo is real?!

Better don't let me meet him on the street... <_<

I just read up on this topic. He came to the MMF forums promoting his DVDs about Illusions. As he did not comply with our minimum posts requirement, we removed his advert. When told why he was very courteous about it and apologised. I didn't realise anything fishy going on, except for the fact he seemed rather young to be releasing a set of illusion DVDs.

Ace - September 25, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
OMG!

And I thought he will "stay low" after the Card Case and "Abuse" incident.

Illusion DVDs? Yup, DVDs that will actually make themselves disappear before they reach the buyer's hands. <_<
