Title: Working W Animals
Description: Animal cruelty ???

Hi ,
I have seen people who work with doves and have seen that many magicians like to dye the birds into colours.

I feel its terribly distressing for the bird, and quite ugly. Shouldn't the colour just be left the way it is ?

I have also seen a Magic competition , where the magic takes a dove and stuffs it into a paper cone, and turning into confetti.

I found it quite sad that the animals we work with are sometimes treated no differently as the props we keep in our cupboards.

I have also worked with guppies, and found out that they die super quickly in my aquarium prop. Not only do they die before the show, all of them die the next day after i add them into my pond.

Am i doing anything wrong ???

I feel terrible after using my prop twice, and haven't used it since due to the fact that many of the guppies die

hmm... guppies are actually a very easy pet to be taken care of.

check your water whether there is enough oxygen level in it. maybe you could provide some water plants in it? the pH value also matter though.

errr... Its a Magic Prop where i keep them in a 'Aquarium' tank . Theres no plant, no Oxygen and its Tap water. I dont have Dechlorinated water at Performance areas.... and i cant go to shows logging bags of de-chlorinated water either..

All I can say is if you want to perform animal magic, learn how to take care of them first. I know I don't have so much time to do that, that's why I restrain from having live animals in my shows.

hey.

When it comes to fish I think there are some solutions you can add to the water. You might be better of asking good pet store owners. Do tell us if you find any good ideas.
