I did a quick search on Yellow Pages SG. You'll have to find the time to contact the bird dealers to enquire... good luck! ;)

practically called up every bird dealer in the country..i use to buy from a shop at Serangoon Garden North..but they are out of it...
Hmm..might consider the bigger birds or working on an exotic bird act..haha...good motivation ..hmm...

Speaking of dove....
I've never been comfortable with magic with animals, in fact, S&R makes me very uneasy. Reason being I always imagine them to be like circus animals and super abused in training and performances. I dun really know it, i just imagine it to be :P
I'm wondering does bird acts hurt the birds themselves? Like puting them in uncomfortable positions for an extended period?
And i imagine it must take a lot of effort to train the doves to fly back to you and stuff like that?
I think dove work has to be one of the most tedious and most prep-work act.

GordonLi - December 30, 2004 03:31 PM (GMT)
i believe doves cos they're easier to train, will stay quiet and can keep still for long periods of time. correct me if im wrong.

I should buy 2 doves... 1male and 1femal. So i can have ample supply of doves for any dove performance 15 years from now.. lol :P
GordonLi - January 2, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
haha, thats a way to save $, but quite troublesome?
zinally - January 2, 2005 07:24 AM (GMT)
No scared of bird flu ah! but it is your choice anyway..try comedy routine with "dead" pigeon..u produce the pigeon but it is dead. Ha..ha..U throw the pigeon and it drop on the spectator..It can be hillarious since there are 15 "dead" pigeon Ha..ha..ha.. :P :D
makanmonkey - January 3, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
S&M ah... erm it's a *ahem* "hobby" popularised by this guy called Marquis De Sade I think.

heard that doves can be squeeze until the size of a ping pong balll or tenis ball....is it true? AMAZING!!!
GordonLi - February 3, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
oh thats sick! u make doves sound like nothing but air and feathers...
ping pong ball definitely not, but a small dove (or any other bird for that matter) would most probably be able to squeeze into tennis ball size.
tham - February 3, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
yeah, gordie you've tried before right? :D
maybe doves have that extra compactness, you know, with all that white fluffy feathers and stuff.
Aloy - February 3, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
erm...guys...i think Sam is JOKING? B)
Alex Tan - March 21, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
Come on, guys!
Jeremy asked for help but all you guys did was poke fun at him. It's really very uncalled for.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out why he's unregistered and why there aren't many pros here.
Then again, why did I even bother saying all this?
With respect,
Alex
P.S. You can get doves at a few pet shops along Upper Changi Road.
Alex Tan - March 21, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
Well, before someone seriously hurt a dove while reading this thread, NO, YOU CAN'T PACK A DOVE DOWN any smaller than it really is.
If you were thinking you could, even briefly, stay with sponge balls.
Alex
manraj007 - March 24, 2005 12:26 PM (GMT)
hmm compressing im not too sure..but definately head turning..i thot they can turn their neck 360..now thats amazing..
haha...iv been to the shop at Serengoon..not bad..yeah they ar out of stocks :P
Alex Tan - March 24, 2005 07:07 PM (GMT)
Owls do that, not doves.
Anything more than 180 would injure, if not kill them.

btw, just to clarify, my squeeze meant putting it into shape (of a tennis ball).
it didnt literally mean to reduce in size, and of course, u need a SMALL dove...
and i agree with alex, pls dont harm the birds (most dove effects do not require small doves, and can accomodate larger ones, so theres usually no need for the squeezing)
Alex Tan - March 25, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
Been working with doves for years and have yet to find a dove that can fit into a tennis ball. It's either my doves are living too well or the tennis balls I see around might not be of the same size you saw and are too small.
Take it easy... just kiddding. I know what you mean.
Alex

OHHHH...yaya..paiseh paiseh..;p...sollie la brother..relax man..yes ..dont worry..i aint harmfull..im just a plain normal nice guy..haha..got it got it..lol..
Cheers!!..
lllusion112 - April 8, 2005 01:50 PM (GMT)
lol, if the dove is still nt hatched yet, it's possible to make it smaller than a ping pong ball.
bean - April 8, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
doves can be compressed to about the size a little bigger than pingpong ball i think

we have already said that its not possible to "compress" a dove, u can change the shape but not the volume of the dove.
bean - April 10, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
oh..lol i will take note of the vocab and gramma :P
lllusion112 - April 11, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
yea, however, it will very unconfortable for the dove. i dont think thats a kind way to keep a dove.
Alex Tan - April 11, 2005 05:48 PM (GMT)
You guys crack me up everytime I'm here.
NO, you can't squeeze a dove any smaller than it really is and neither can you change its shape.
Then again, what do I know, I'm only a Magician.
