A Review of TnR created by Mathieu Bich.
Taught by Chris Kenner.
Short clip from theory11
hereThis effect looks very much like the legendary rumoured "Torn Asunder"
*Or at least that was what I can remember back in the ad in genii mag ages ago*
About the effect:Mathieu Bich created this back in 2002. He also won FISM2006 for his Spreadwave deck (did I remember correctly?) and if you've been following his creations, you'll know they are totally... unpredictable.
Basically this is a Torn and Restore that is very similar to Chris Kenner's one that David Copperfield performed.
Basically you just tear off 4 pieces of the card... Then you put each piece back one by one.
Individual pieces can be flipped, shown fairly.
No funny moves, no closed hands.. fingers open and all.
They stick together magically.
and finally once the last piece goes on...
you turn the card and it changes to another card.
Method/Secret:You do need a gimmick.
but for what is worth I still love it.
The gimmick is easy to make and taught out clearly in the DVD.
The whole principle is just technically great.
Mathieu is a genius.
Teaching:The DVD is taught out by Chris Kenner.
He is very humorous, and very thorough.
Most of his tips would add spice to any Torn and restored you may already know.
Overall:the DVD's good. Packaging's like Ellusionist.
Bad thing is no live performance footage.
Good thing is that its very detailed and last for 85 mins.
Gimmick may be initially difficult to make...
but its really worth it. (i'm not just saying this. I really mean this)
Personally this effect deserves a 9/10
overall the DVD's an 8/10
cheers
