Title: Just An Idea To Raise Fun
Description: rental of magic props

For budding magician who do not have a lot of product for their performance or stage act I recommend that we pool "the lying around magic props" in our home to give to SMC coordinator so they can use or rent it example show in Pay Forward.

im not quite sure if this is a gd idea...

nah...firstly .... we should give SMC a change to save money.... buying all the props will cost a BOMB , secondly..... renting the items.... for performance.... u see what people want is to know the secerts for tricks and by renting them out....renting definately will be cheaper than buying the whole product and guess what ... the buying knows the secert already!!
so yeah ... i agree with gordie ... not such a good idea.....

I think it's quite a briliant idea. Anyway, we are all committed magicians, so knowing and not knowing the secrets within the props doesn't make a diff much. And in all those ''101 Magic Secrets'' book found at libraries has majority of the stage and classical illusions' secrets revealed out already. Secrets are trivial, I think. It's the patter and all that matters for a good performance. B)
We should be confident in such ethics stuff as time passes and as we grow to be more experienced and matured. Sharing for the good benefits is always great, but to who to share with and when is the important thing.

the secret is what make magic unique. just cos there's exposure doesnt mean we shud support it. moreover, SMC is open to all, we are assuming that everyone here is a magician qualified to a certain extent.
not that presentation is not impt though, it is. but firstly, the secrets and sleights must come.
“Without proper presentation, the best sleight of hand is little more than a feat of juggling.” - Nate Leipzig

Alright, I don't wanna spawn a vicious typing war here.
All i have to say is that different people has different opinions and priorities etc, so respect it as u would respect your own opinions and views. ;)

Anyway, this is just a service for the poorer magicians who couldn't afford to get their own props for a few performances. Is being poor and being interested in the arcane art of Magic that requires massive cash investments wrong?
Thanks.

i dun like typing wars either. every1 can say what they wanna, just dun make it vicious.

no its not wrong, but that does not justify magic exposure to possible laypeople (or even magicians). and magic does not necessarily require "massive cash investment".

Doing stage works doesn't really need a lot of props. Mas Maven did a 2hrs stage show with just cards, blindfold, paper and pen.
I think some magis will rent the props because they want to know the secrets. Who can assure that all magis are ethical.
If you can't afford expensive stuff, do it with something you can afford. I'm pretty sure that this renting thingy will be abused if it is implemented.

This is just a matter of opinion cos my intention since u do all for charity why not give u all ahand maybe to do stage show for the under priviliged u need some props. Anyway thanks for the feedback.. ^_^
