Description: anyone using it?
JamKid - September 17, 2004 05:06 AM (GMT)
i've just started out exploring the possibilitues of the loops.
any of u been using loops? wat are the pros n cons?
what effects are u using for?
so far i'm still trying to make up some card levitation stuffs using loops.
the demo in penguin to me simply cannot make it.
i've been using the loop for pyschic object moving, card standing on my palm.
any inputs?

Like everything else, Loops have their pros and cons.
Pros: No anchor points needed / Can be worn on the wrists without detection / External objects involved in presentation start clean and end clean.
Cons: Expensive if you don't know how to make one and you buy them seperately instead / Effects limited to only short and sharp movements or hovering, so forget about doing graceful floating levitations / Obvious body movements prior to the object involved with the effect (this looks bad on camera, but I guess it's ok if some misdirection is used in real life)
Of course, you can alway emulate similar uses for IT hookups if you use GIANT loops. The only difference is, your pivot points or your axis of movement isn't as flexible.

I got mine for around 5 for $20 and i broke my first 1 on the first day, the effect which i produced was nice :P but too bad i mishandle it and it broke.
Thought of getting the DVD and the Pro Elastic from penguin lol

Yeah, I think Penguin had it on offer right? Free pro-elastic with the purchase of the million dollar knot and vice-versa.
Alternatively, you can harvest your own I.T. and use a wooden block with four vertically inserted nails to anchor your I.T. in order to make a Loop. If you don't understand what I mean, let me know and I'll PM you the details ;)

Breaking is an issue that can be overcome with accomodation. Once you're used to it, it's fine, especially for Loops because you can wear them around your wrist.
My biggest problem with IT is the visibility problem. 5 times out of 10 spectatators can see it if I'm not careful.

Lighting and shadows mate....lighting and shadows.....
Doesn't necessarily be dim-lit, just correctly positioned. I have a post on it
here.Cheers

I know I know. I read the post long ago already. The problem that I'm having doesn't entire lie on lighting and shadows. I perform it only at nite under dimly lit conditions. It's because of the @$#@!!! IT that I have in my closet. It SUCKS big time. Ask Sam, he knows because he tried the IT I gave him. That's the reason why I stopped on performing with IT altogether until I ordered and receive the good stuff from the States.
I won't start performing it again till I have all this sorted out. No worries mate ;)
