hey.
I wanted to ask, is it ok to video shoot? The last time i came for Lennart Green's lecture, he taught sooo much in the short period of time that I cant really rmb much now even though I took down notes.

Try bringing a camera into the cinema to shoot the film - so much happening on the screen it's hard to remember all the scenes.

OK, here are the details.
THE OZ PEARLMAN’S LECTURE
Oz Pearlman is a professional magician from New York City. He has released 3 best-selling card magic DVDs through Penguin Magic, and has recently completed a 9-month run of his Off-Broadway show, WatchMagic, where the NY Times hailed "even skeptical viewers are won over".
The lecture consists of a mix of close-up mentalism and magic, with an emphasis on very practical, commercial, and memorable routines. There is something for everyone at this lecture, ranging from beginner to advanced. Here are just a few of the items included in the lecture…
Perfection
Quite possibly the most direct mental effect with a deck of cards ever conceived. And best of all, it is very easy to do!
What’s in a Name?
This has become Oz’s signature effect in his strolling repertoire. This is an absolutely impossible prediction of a thought of person, including details about that person that the performer could not possibly know.
21st Century Phantom
This routine is truly a reputation maker! A thought of celebrity is revealed in an incredibly unique manner, and is then bestowed upon the spectator as a very memorable (and marketable) souvenir.
“While all of Oz's material was absolutely first rate (audience killers, from his own working repertoire, which he has perfected over time), what was perhaps most impressive was his teaching style and ability….. Top marks all around!”
Scott Leavitt, Vice President of SAM Assembly 161 in Green Brook, NJ

hey shade.
I didnt really understand what you were trying to say. The only reason I asked was that I did see people video shooting and because it is a good personal memento.

LarryDK - December 29, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
Its like in the cinema, you can't take video unless its permitted by the person. But it never happen. Because the person won't want you to duplicate them and sell them for profit.
Second is, Its always a fact that you can't remember everything. Thats why, most of the time, there will be lecture notes sold in the lecture. Or you just try your best to write down as much as you can. :)
Magicdow - December 30, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Its actually a standard practice of not allowing recording of videos in lectures. Unless you are the organiser or you have been granted special permission. LIke what Larry says, buy the lectures notes, that's what its for.
Meanwhile let's get back to the main topic, register your name here!

 I nearly fall off my chair....
Anyways those who are unfarmiliar with magic performances and lectures, it is the understood norm that video cameras are disallowed for professional lectures and performances. This is true for all countries and performers.
If you see any video cameras during any professional lectures or performances, it is usually arranged by the lecturer or performer themselves for either sale or own collection.

I recently went for the one in Brisbane where he taught the same effects, and a few extras like false shufflings, etc. And had an extra encore metal bending routine similar to Banechek.
It was good. He pays a lot of attention to the details. Quite a technical guy.

How long is the singapore lecture?
Not sure if it is identical to the Australian one. He taught all those three effects with many smaller ones that are not really original like metal bending, pk touches, some false shuffles, etc.
Lamadude - February 14, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
As I was surfing penguinmagic, i noticed that 2 of his effects will be at the lecture. Will he be teaching the effects in the dvd or just a performance. The cost of Perfection and 21st century phantom already cost US$50.
Thanks!

It should be the same as he is doing an Asia tour. Usually, lectures are about 2 hrs long.

I don't know how much your knowledge in magic is so I won't be able to advice you. But I think as long as you know the jargon used, you should not have problem understanding.
We do not always have lectures, so whenever there is a lecture, try not to miss it.
