cl3BerbOi - January 4, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
anybody knows this trick?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dpYuL4Ll-oIt is called resonance in some comedy show.
any dvds or place to get this?
LarryDK - January 4, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
Oh, There is alot of ways to achieve that.
Hmm, the easier way will be using a Stripper deck. But I will say is that, the Taiwan magician's presentation is very good and audience control is good (Well the audiences are celebrities anyway)

Actually, it is the Svengali deck.
You can buy it from any magic shop.
AhLiShuFi - January 4, 2008 04:42 PM (GMT)
Haha. I am very impressed with the presentation although I know the secret. Very nice! Another favourite presentation of mine is by Andy Nyman whereby he claimed that the workings is by battery, and the finale has a double A sized battery being produced off the card!

Instead of using the Svengali Deck, you can also use a regular deck.
However, you need few basic sleights to achieve the same effect.

Why cannot?
You can achieve the same thing using regular deck also.

I am no expert but I cannot conceive how this effect can be done with a Stripper. I think its Svengali with Rough & Smooth.
Maybe we can brainstorm it during our coming gathering.
That Taiwan magician presented his routine well.

Isn't this just a routine using a Mirage deck? And lots of guts from Lu Chen as well.
cl3BerbOi - January 5, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
okok. Can i attend the next meeting? Seems that i will have lots to learn.
thanks anyway.!
llamalamer - January 5, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
Wow. What an interesting application!
And LarryDK, you've really got to show me how you'd do that with a stripper.

haha, well, ZiAn u get the wrong idea again. :(
i didnt mention about learning free tricks?
what i meant by learning was to gain more exposure.
There are some few points i can learn.
For eg, experiences, different points of view, comments, and of course, to get in touch with more tricks and many many more.
I am not such a cheepo person btw. i would rather buy dvds to learn.
Maybe i didnt state it clear in my post.
so, sorry.
Thanks anyway for pointing out my mistake!
joeltay81 - January 7, 2008 07:44 AM (GMT)
Yea. It's Mirage deck.
Like the way he presented it. Made it look so fun.
joeltay81 - January 8, 2008 11:38 AM (GMT)
Card trickIf you think that resonance was good. Watch this act by him.
bigbadwolf - January 9, 2008 07:42 AM (GMT)
Haha...one of the most irritating clip by Lu Chen.
Anyway the first phase of that routine can be found in The New Magic of Japan named as Double Shock. The Ace Production is by the same creator, but was published only in Japan.

Why irritating?
Thanks for that useful info BigBadWolf.
Is double shock hard learn to? What about ace production.
Lamadude - January 9, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
I was reading through new magic of Japan. it is quite easy to do. Anyway, I do have an extra copy of new magic of Japan (Brand new, not opened. still shrink wrap). I am letting it go at $80 SGD. If anyone is interested, please PM me.
For those who have that book, it is on page 35. It is by Yuic-hi Katakura.
The effect being describe in the book: the cards are shuffled, and then dribble into the left hand until the spectator says stop. hour cards are removed from the deck at that point, and are shown to be indifferent cards. these four cards changes into the four kings and then immediately into the four aces.

The behind the scene dialogue by the camera man. Unnecessary 'woos' and 'wahs'

Both are relatively easy, but the timing of execution is more important than the execution itself, (if it makes any sense).
Double Shock requires you to stack the deck a little, but if you can do Chris Kenner's 4For4 Switch, its a nice subsitution for the move.
joeltay81 - January 10, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
I saw someone doing a really bad Double Shock and found out how it is done. Nice and simple. Will definitely try this out next week after some more practice. Have no idea what Chris Kenner's 4For4 Switch is, but will check it out.
