Title: Using Bicycle Decks...

Aloy - September 17, 2004 08:46 AM (GMT)
All these while that i do magic as a hobby, i've been using normal playing cards for all my tricks, aladin, queen's slipper, etc etc....
Now i'm trying to swtich to the higher quality Bicycle decks and i found my sleight handlings are adversely affected, esp my DL is almost completely down to zip! I have to virtually re-learn my DL which sucks because i consider the DL a very important sleight.
Now thinking of just sticking to normal playing cards which i'm already so used to.

Anybody has my problem?

Cheers

i started off with aladin too...
and experienced a tedious change when switching to bike..

well, in fact, i wld say, sticking to the normal card wld be smtm better, as specs wun suspect a thing abt a deck they seen before..
bikes are not as popular as in sg...

DL is more diff, cuz, it typically requires more control, it's sorta wazed surface...
but, there are some dvds that teaches a DL/TL....
just cant rem the name of the vids that is...:)

i use bikes cuz most of the card gimmicks comes in bike...
and another is cuz, i like the feel of controlling it :)

Yeah i could do a decent DL, just not used to using Bicycle decks because of the air cushion.....

Just wondering if it's worth the effort anyway because i dun do any florishes at all and Bicycle decks are best for florishes.....and of course a lot of gimmicks are made for Bicycle decks.......

bike decks are nice to use.... soft and flexible... aladins are much harder... but i see lots of sporean's flourishes use aladins? pls correct me if im wrong...

i find bikes are much nicer to fan and handle.... then aladins...

by the way, how much are these cards in spore?

air cushion alladins are now available in singapore going for as cheap as $2.50 but only in blue colour not red... cheapest bikes in sg is $4

I do DLs wif Bikes. My 1st deck when i learnt magic were bikes. When i tried to do double lift on cathay pacific cards while on an overseas trip, they work too. Not much of a diff cept those cards had no borders so had to be more careful. I am able to do DLs juz by feeling the cards. No breaks required. Trying out TLs without breaks but yet to master. Anyway TLs aren't part of my most tricks cept a few.
