Title: Dry Hands
tham - January 3, 2005 08:59 AM (GMT)
basically, does anyone know how to combat this.. 'disease'? its very irritating, especially while performing, to have dry hands.. coz its harder to handle the cards.
is there a moisturising product available that will not make cards sticky or greasy after handling?

Massage your scalp.
it'll grease ur hands a wee bit.. enough to make handling more comfortable.
and yeah dong dong, you'll probably create another tsunami with em palms :P
iewgnod - January 3, 2005 10:23 AM (GMT)
lol
don't talk about it
u'll see " wetter decks frm my hands than when dropped into water"
seriously
dry hands are MUCH better than sweaty palms
i think fanning powder can help make the cards stickier?

It's quite a blessing to have dry hands when it comes to flourishing or precise sleights. :P

I'd differ. I have dry hands too and sometimes, I can't palm coins, can't even deal cards.
I've tried many methods but have not found one that's suitable. There's a lotion for dry hands made by Camriand Academy. This is a spray which works ok for me. You can try moisturizers. There's one in Watsons call "Vigasol" (I think). This is meant for women"s you know... Works not bad too.

why do you say so? when i have dry hands, i cant control cards for nuts. slips all over the place.. unless they're dry BUT dirty/sticky... which is a totally different matter i guess.
does anyone else have any other suggestions/advice?

Well, you know those little fruity candies that you can spray in your mouth? They come in all flavors, like Strawberry and Orange and Grape and all that.
Finish one of them, clean it out, and then fill it up with water. Bring it around with ya... when yo hands get a little too dry, give them a SLIGHT spray and then let it evaporate. You've just been moistinitizernaratated!
My hands are okay, but I use the spray to wash my hands on the run... eating KFC, then doing KFC, is not good for your cards. Trust me.

Ning - January 5, 2005 04:51 AM (GMT)
Why not just try using moisteriser every night b4 you sleep? No, it's not a gay thing to do... there are more guys (read: David Beckham) who do care for their skin... and you should too, since you need your fingers to do your work for you ;)
Pick up something from watsons or guardian, say it's for your mom/sis/girlfriend/cousin/niece/neighbour if you're really shy
This way your hands are in perfect condition 24/7... wierd to just carry a bottle of lube or something with you for gigs right? :P

Ning - January 13, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
Just wondring if you used the 2 tubes of Garnier stuff I passed you last Friday... did it work? :)
justinho - January 20, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
ya.. use moisturiser (sp?).. there was a discussion abt this on themagiccafe.. most of them use moisturisers (again, sp?) and the even go for medicure.. or izzit pedicure.. something liddat la.. coz our hands are the stage wad rite? so muz be presentable.. hehe.. cheers..
tham - January 21, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
hey all..
thanks for all the advice. and thx to ning for the great garnier moisturiser..
now i realise, if they really are too smooth, simply keep snapping your middle finger and thumb and they'll be kinda roughed-up, enough for me at least.
GordonLi - January 22, 2005 01:20 PM (GMT)
for me i just wet my fingers (usually 1st 2nd and thumb), and then rub together till not too wet. (and yes, wetting is usually licking) :P
tham - January 22, 2005 03:41 PM (GMT)
yes, i will stop lending u my cards from today onwards <_<
