u should hold ur hand horizontal and not upright of not the liquid will flow down your hand. .. that happens to me on my first try too .. unless u are using pyro gel , u should not hold it upright
Nicholas - January 4, 2005 01:20 PM (GMT)

Nic, take care of the burn - stick to flash paper for the next few weeks till your skin's all better to try again (Take 2!) ^_^
Kevin - January 5, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
?!
Ning, are you asking him to burn the burn away? Talk about counter-productive... Burr.

haha...few comedic incidents that happend to me through my years of performing...in case any one of ya doing these..please take note:
1) strapping flash paper on your wrist with rubber band : I ever got my arms on fire in a live show, had to wait till end of the show and the whole wrist just swell up..though the arm on fire trick looks cool to the audience watching but ...OUCH!!!
2) Using staple on flash paper : Ever did a show whereby when i throw the flash packet and the staple landed on my skin, left a burnt mark on the skin...super painful !with hot metal and so thin on the bare skin...
PLease take care when using fire stuff in your acts...its said that soon most places might ban fire acts...so now i am also coming up with lots of non fire materials...
haha, try wearing a glove for the fire on finger..gloves on fire looks cool too...i use to do it last time in a dove act..use leather gloves, not hot at all! can ta-han longer

the staple one was pretty funny haha but why would u want to strap flash paper to ur wrist that one would definitely hurt .. ouch
Nicholas - January 5, 2005 09:18 AM (GMT)
haha maybe because ...... its an effect where he pretends to be injured and then in a flash of fire.....e is OK!!!
ahah kids show ...

ReDeFiNe - January 5, 2005 09:22 AM (GMT)
haha..i use to perform an effect whereby i would have a lighter or a match and a flash would magically appear..i strap it to my wrist and pull the flash paper out from the wrist...one show outdoor ,still remember at sentosa...the wind blew the paper back and ignite the whole packet on my wrist!!!!OUCH

Nah..no scars left...i have had other worst accidents with magic props...try a metal appearing cane shooting towards your eye..hahaha..no thats some stunts...haha
Now i am super careful with fire and stuff that spring out...cause after all , if the magic is not safe for myself, don't think its safe for the audience ;)

Hmm..i am getting better nowadays..so not much new accidents..yeah and i am glad i stop doing fire eating regularly for my shows...
A good friend of mine,Bosco (Professional Fire Eater) , he was badly burnt recently through one of his shows..but i respect him alot! He went through everything with ease and now he is back on the go...
Be mindful of hazardous magic ya...

I was known as fireman in the past for doing too much flash and fire in my act. Till these day, I still get burn for most of my hardcore fire show. If you are doing big fire act, pls remember this rule that always follow the wind direction and you should be fine but accident do happen sometime. I'm willing to share my experience if you do need any help.
