Do you still have Febuary 2008 Genii Magazine?

What is the cost price of this DVD? I really don't think you should be doing this.

Well. if you read my earlier post. It cost 35 Euros and that does not include the shipping I have paid for it. And I think it is fair to sell it at a lower price after I am done watching it. After all, this is a relatively new DVD that has just hid the market. This dvd has at most been 1 to 2 months in the market.

Anyway, this dvd has performances of the top 5 fism close up and stage performers. It also has performances of Jeff Mcbride, Juan Tamariz, Morgan Strebler and also some products that was sold in the dealers room.

After I watched it, I will definitely say that the close up performance are doable by any of us. We need not huge amount of money to get props to be a good magician. Most of the props they used, we might have it in our magic equipment.

it has definitely a open my eyes after watching the dvd. I will post a review after my exams.

If every magician were to buy a new dvd for 35.00 euro and sell it for SGD70.00, all magic dealers will be out of business. The next buyer after buying it for SGD70.00 may sell maybe for SGD65.00. This will keep on going.

So for a few dollars, a magician can conveniently learn and burn a copy of the dvd. Is it a right thing to do ?. I wonder.

By learning from a dvd and performing those prize winning effects will also not make anyone a better magician.

It is not in my right to ban the sales of magic dvds in this forum. Only the moderators have the right to do so

What I am trying to say is some are making the art of magic so cheap and easily available for just a couple of dollars.

How could you get the FISM 2007 dvds?

The previous FISM was in 2006, and the coming FISM will be in 2009, Beijing... What about FISM 2007? Or have they change the rules?OR is that just a compilation of FISM winners act?

Usually, when it comes to DVDs like this one, the rules are not as strict. This is because this is not a teaching DVD and no secrets are being shared here. Videos like this can be easily found on youtube or other file sharing websites.

However, in this case, i think it is ridiculous that you can buy a DVD of any sort, use it, absorb the shipping cost, and then sell the DVD at cost price.

Well, Lamadude, your rationale is that you are only going to watch it once, and probably never going to use it again. I hope you are not making a copy of it onto your harddisk before selling it off. i would give u the benefit of the doubt.

That said, while actions like this is not disallowed, it is NOT encouraged. This time, we shall let it pass, as long as your conscience is clear.

But let this be a pre-warning to others who might have the slightest temptation to do what lamadude did here with a magic teaching dvd. Bear in mind that when you are selling off a used DVD, you are selling away the rights to performs effects inside. You may have already acquired the secrets but by right, you are not allowed to use them because you don't have the rights to. Please don't cheapen this art.

Anyway i digress. This is after all a thread to sell things, so please carry on.

Cost price = Indirectly owning the DVD for free.
Cheap = Ruining the market.

if someone wants to buy it at cost price let them do it . after all lamadude has been honest enough to state the cost price and letting people know what the situation is like.

It's up to the public and potential buyers to deceide if they want to purchase it or not. if there are no buyers then lamadude will end up pushing his price lower.

The other day someone offered to sell me a new magic dvd that he had watched for the same price as he bought it. i said NO thanks as i would rather buy it 1st hand and support the artist.


It's a no brainer. really

I'm sure learning and performing those prize effects tic for tac will not make anyone a better magician, but rather a copycat magician.


But i'm also sure that there are alot of patter ideas, performance style, theories that can be learnt and absorbed from watching a DVD worth full of great magicians performing

I know I was very inspired after watching FISM 2006 and i felt i learnt alot of things from the performers that would hopefully let me be a better magician.

Based on what has been said. I have decided to remove some of the items for sale.

I totally on your side. After watching it over 3 times, I was totally inspired by the magician. I realised that we do not need expensive props to be the best magician. We just need to be good at what we currently have and give it a different approach to the presentation. Of course these are much easier with year of experience under your belt. but with those experience, I guess i have to see what others has learn in their lives and apply it to their performance and apply it to my own routine. That's the process of improving right? Anyway, those who have watch it would have known, this is really a GOOD dvd. If I wasn't tight on cash, I wouldn't have sold it.
