Justy - January 6, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)

Nicholas - January 6, 2005 07:18 AM (GMT)

<_< <_< <_<

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:23 AM (GMT)
Nah, not starting a club. this would be just myself. just want to make it a CCA.

Kevin - January 6, 2005 07:26 AM (GMT)
Hm... first things first: are you in a magic club to begin with? Joining this forum is a light step, but contribution will get you further into the rabbit hole. Know yer role ;)

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
yeah.. i would like to contribute, but in what way=)?i intend to make magic my CCA and would like someone to write in a letter to the HoD. is that possible?

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
So that i can gain some extra CCA points, because i don't think my sports can make it.

Kevin - January 6, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
Hm... last time I checked, CCA's were in-school activities, so how would joining a magic club outside of school make it a CCA? I'm desufnoc already... aiyoyo.

By the way, a nice introduction of yerself in the "Intros and Hellos" forum would be helpful, Justy. ;)

Hello, Justy. It's possible to have SMC as an external CCA outside sch, after checking the handbook. It's the LEAPS programme... I would like to have my SMC involvements taken into account for my CCA too. So perhaps, we can all ask Mr. Aloy to write some testimonials or letters. He's definitely interested, i've PM-ed him about this. B)

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
Well, according to my HoD it can. I would also be going to Old Folks homes to entertain the elders. So i guess it would be fine. But i need a letter first. Yeah.. i will go introduce myself in a while's time..=) thanks!

Aloy - January 6, 2005 07:44 AM (GMT)
Yes this is something that we are looking into as a very real possibility, but have to work out the administrative hoops that we will have to jump thru...

Erm... don't think it's jackpot thou everyone B) If this comes to pass, i doubt it will mean every forum member getting it. ACTIVE PARTICIPATION is the keyword. :)

But at this time, we know too little. If anybody has more information or know who i can contact for this please let me know.

Cheers

SMC is an on-line forum, not a club. I don't understand how by joining a forum qualifies as CCA. You can join a real club though. There's 2 such clubs in Singapore. IBM and SAM.

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:47 AM (GMT)
Who is Mr aloy? Where can we get him? heh..

Aloy - January 6, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
Oh yah...in the meantime, if you want to have your magic activities recognised as CCA, consider joining IBM and/or SAM. These are 2 registered societies in Singapore so much more likely that it will go thru.

I am Ms Aloy :)

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:50 AM (GMT)
I've tried IBM but they haven't replied me yet though.. whats SAM website?

Magicdow - January 6, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
Contact member ReDiFine, he is a member of SAM. Look around this forum, you can find out how to go about joining IBM.

Justy - January 6, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)

Post in a proper thread and you'll get answers. Start a new thread in the coin section.

Hey Guys,

I am the asst secretary of SAM so if there is anything i can help bout the club please let me know..Any of you interested here I most welcome you to join our association! :D

One thing i would like to clarify..SMC is an online forum, i don't think it is a registered organization..Unless it is some form of registered company or club..then i think there are further developments...

Justy - January 6, 2005 12:12 PM (GMT)
hey dude, i would like to join SAM. what are the procedures?

ReDeFiNe - January 6, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
For all info...

SAM has meeting on the last wednesday of every month...We meet at 137 Cecil Street 13th Floor...

If you are interested to join SAM, drop me a PM..I can arrange for you to visit our next meeting.

Cheers!

That is correct. Of now, SMC is an online community and not registered with ROS or ROC.

Funny that this should come up because since we hit the 100th member, i have been thinking constantly of registering SMC either as a society or a company.
Reason that I haven't done anything on that is because we are still so young really (less than 6 months old)! The activites going on have way surpassed my initial intention of just finding a handful of friends who are interested in magic to interact with. In a way, I'm quite worried that this is too good to be true and we will crash and burn as quickly as we had came up. LOL

For now, I just really want to see we go pass the 12th month strongly..... B)

Justy - January 6, 2005 03:30 PM (GMT)
we definetely can=)

Jimmagic - January 6, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
It will be good if smc could get support for the local magic club to form a strong fountation. No harm trying.

Hmmm.....that's an idea...

But can we collaborate in a way that we don't fall under their direct legislative and constitution? We may be young and small and broke, but we don't wanna be "absorbed"....

But this is definitely an option to be explored.....

Jimmagic - January 6, 2005 04:43 PM (GMT)
I believe you won't be absorb by the local club and it really depend on how you work with them. Get the local club to recognise smc first. You should be joining the club before you do anything and that is only my point of view.
