Title: Wh's New Effect

muscleaxl - March 10, 2008 11:30 AM (GMT)
There is this new trick from Wayne Houchin which can make your pulse stop. I'm not sure of the name, but if anyone here knows and owns it, can give me a review on it?

THere is a thread on this in the Magic Product Review section

Alexander - March 10, 2008 12:16 PM (GMT)
Its called Control.

Achmed - March 11, 2008 10:37 AM (GMT)
I think this trick is the most impractical trick ever. It does not give good impressions on Singaporeans.

muscleaxl - March 11, 2008 04:26 PM (GMT)
Hmm... how so?

You can put in the review section.

If you ever get the DVD. You would surely say it is the dumbest, lamest, never going to use trick. I assure you. <_<

You just started a war with the Houchin's fans. I assure you <_<

I do agree Wayne has good tricks like stigmata and sinful

But control is really... so disappointing. So I am with Achmed on the said topic :)
I personally think the classic pulse stop method is so much cleaner and real as compared to this one.

Buying the dvd just to see DG and WH's "joke" ??Haha, well, this might just be my personal opinion though
So no offence to any fans out there. I am also one of the fans, but not on this trick

There are a few methods of doing a pulse stop effect if I'm not wrong. I have seen one in Luke Jermay's Skullduggery but I would not recommend.

BangHao - March 14, 2008 04:03 PM (GMT)
I have done twice using Luke Jermay's Skullduggery method in stopping pulse and i succeed during the 2 times. It is very effective and simple.

Are the 2 methods the same between WH and Luke Jermay?

I do not have Luke Jermay's Skullduggery but I think Control is one of the worst, if not the worst, pulse stopping effect ever created.

Ok, without risking exposure, can you kindly tell why you think it is that bad? Eg: Not practical? Need plenty of setup? Need to be done under restrictive conditions? Be a be more specific.... can?

I've never done a pulse stopping effect before, so I don't really know what's the difference between a "good" or "bad".

No set up required, can be performed naked
Simple but you will be in an awkward position in executing your pulse stop

But, not really practical in our society with more and more educated people
This trick is to fool people who is lack of "certain " knowledge

10% on the dvd is talking about the trick
90% of the dvd showing how Wayne and DG cracking jokes and fooling around.
Another 1 trick dvd...

Exactly, not practical at all. Try it on a duck, it may work, but for humans I guess, no.

Well, it does work on humans.

I tried it on my primary school friends 12 years ago and it worked. Instead of stopping my pulse, I increased my pulse to an insane rate.

After that, I stop doing it as I think this is not going to fool people who have secondary school education and above.

The method that I discovered 12 years ago is very similar to Wayne Houchin's method.

Ace. How long have you been doing magic for?

Do anyone evert try this trick out in one to one situation instead of groups? What happen if it does not work out on an individual in a one-on-one situation. What sort of patter do you use (for one on one situation that require an out).

I first started magic when I was in Primary 3. I stopped in Secondary School to focus on my studies. I finally picked up magic again when I was in the army, as I had more time and money.

The funny thing is I don't see the "pulse control" as a magic effect back then. I feel that it is more like a practical joke. It was inspired by a movie. I'll give someone a treat if he or she can guess what that movie is. :P
