Title: Any Place To Buy Good Quality Ropes?
yujie - March 31, 2008 03:57 AM (GMT)
Hi all,
Does anyone knows where to buy good quality ropes (besides magic shops, some of them are way too over-priced), e.g. cotton ropes.......i tried looking in hardware stores, but all of them are very stiff, and not 'user-friendly' for cut-and-restorted rope routine. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.
Regards,
Yujie

Actually, ropes from Uday are cheap and good. Ning would be able to get them.

I was recommended Elite rope ( camirand ) by Jc and Ning
I've used others by I think this is the best....soo smooth and easy to work with.

Elite Rope is great, but depending on which type of 'Cut and Restored' you are talking about (i think you get what i mean. :) ), Elite Rope may be too expensive. You may want to consider Uday's if that's the case.

Can i know what is the difference between Elite rope and Uday rope?
I also encounter the same trouble of not getting a user friendly rope for the cut and restore routine. I tried all sorts of ropes from DIY shops but still not that user friendly.
Thanks in advance. =)

I have never used Uday but have handled them before. I use Elite rope.
Elite is thicker than Uday and handles better (my feel). Uday is thinner and doesn't show up so good on stage in comparison to Elite, but is still good enough. Uday's rope come in many colours too, and so is a plus if you want to get something striking that can be seen from far.
Oh yes, 1 more important comparison. :D Elite is more expensive than Uday.
Hope that helps!

I cant seem to find the right type of scissors to cut my uday ropes, and that is taking up unnecessary time when i perform. Anyone can recommend a place where i can buy scissors that can cut the ropes in just one attempt?

Get tailor scissors. You can find these scissors at any store that sell hardware - ask specifically for tailor ones, and don't use it to cut anything else other than cloth and rope. :)

You could get them from the shops that sell sewing stuff for the scissors... you could also try the handicraft shops for ropes as well. They should be much cheaper.
But from what i understand, it seems like singapore is out of stock for the thick white rope that i love for cut & restored rope. I'm now using orange and yellow ones instead.
A decent and solid textile scissors should cost 10-20. mine cost like 9+.
And a nice shiny one from singer could be quite ex, esp if you get those Japanese made types..
