Title: Very Clean Coin Vanish
muscleaxl - April 25, 2008 06:05 PM (GMT)
A couple of years back, a magician from a local shop showed me a single coin vanish that allowed you to show both hands apparently empty, front and back. I was very sure he didn't used any goshman kind of move, and his fingers were quite open when he displayed his hands.
I was told it was a gimmick coin, any idea what was it?

Here are a few possibilities.
1) Gone by Ryan Lowe
2) Raven
3) Black Widow

I think it is not a gimmick coin, but there is a gimmick sticking to the coin.
I saw this trick before but not sure whether is it the same one u see.

If he is using the Raven or Black Widow there is a high chance that he is using a gimmick coin.

Sounds like a black widow.

Don't think it's raven.
Just a brief description of the effect:
He passed the coin from right to left in a classic p way, then he showed his right palm to indicate the coin was not left there. Next, he opened his left hand to show the coin was not there as well and he was able to turn both hands showing front and back. Lastly, he reproduced the coin clutching his right hand into a fist and when opened, the coin was there.
I don't know what's black widow, how's the effect like?

Darryl Vanamburg's "Black Widow" is a device used for vanishing, producing and exchanging items in the spectators hand.

There are quite a few ways to achieve the same effect.
He might be sl******, hence he can vanish and produce the coin while showing both hands empty.
Shoot Ogawa's Shoot is one way where you can vanish the coin and show both hands empty.

Should be Gone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfdwZGmV6ogIs this performance fit your description?
muscleaxl - April 26, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
Not exactly...
He passed the coin in a classic P vanish way. And he reproduced it by simply turning over his hand, clutch into a fist and open it with the coin shown. Definitely not any kind of pinch (i may be wrong).
To Ace: he was wearing a normal T.

Since you're talking about a few years back and from the way you described, I pretty sure it's
NOW-U-C-IT, NOW-U-DON'T by Jeff Stewart. Gone is just a rip off of this effect.

Is it Harada Hold?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iUjLk9vl2w&feature=relatedBut this does not need any gimmicked coin, purely sleight of hand
muscleaxl - April 27, 2008 03:50 AM (GMT)
Hmm.... could really be Harada Hold. Does looked like it. I will go check it out.
qureyoon - April 27, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
@axl: Is it something
like this ? You can add the CP to it.
If it is maybe it's a variant of Fickle Nickel just as Logan says.

Based on your experience and the description of the effect, like what magicdow said, it is "NOW-U-C-IT, NOW-U-DON'T"
I bought that trick from that magician in that magic shop. Simply loved it! And so far I only know of one person (which is that magician) who does that effect very well.
It cannot be anything else.

I've heard of a coin vanish that can show both side of the hands called 'Messiah Vanish'. Or something like that. Ungimmicked, impromptu.
Was also demonstrated at a certain magic shop I frequented.
I think I know the method, but was never quite able to reproduce it.

Edit: Upon further reading of your description, I concur with magicdow & Kenneth. I don't know about the Jeff Stewart one, but since I'm familiar with GONE, I'm 90% sure that's the one you want.
muscleaxl - April 28, 2008 03:54 PM (GMT)
Ok, thanks for all your inputs... I've found out, it's really GONE which originally should be NOW U C IT NOW U DUN.
The mystery is solved.
