Check out our magic babe doing a dangerous escape! Mega Escape

In front of an expected live audience of 5000 people, Ning will attempt to escape from a device called “The Impalement Cage”, a steel cage with a bed of 13 stainless steel spikes, timed to crash down on her in 90 seconds.



Ning will have to pick all the locks and shackles that secure her hands, legs and neck to the inside of the cage and then roll out to safety before the spikes fall. To add to the difficulty and danger of the mega escape, Ning will also be completely blindfolded.
What makes this particular stunt so different from any other escape of its kind is the fact that it will be attempted in full view of the surrounded live audience, with no covers, curtains, shields or boxes of any kind. This has never ever been done before! The audience will witness her complex escape step-by-step with no tricks or illusions.

We play 2 times a day, Mon - Sat and this one hour long contemporary illusion performance is officially Singapore's first permanent illusion show! The Arena begins renovation works soon for a bigger stage and to fit all our technical requirements. It's a very exciting process to be honest :lol:

Haha! I think it is fair to say that Ning has garnered a celebrity status that none of us have yet as she made the Chinese gossip papers today (Shin Min Daily) in a sensational news article based on quotes taken completely out-of-context. I never thought the day will come that a SG magician would become such a well-known personality that the tabloids will want to write about. Buy a copy for a good laugh! :-)

On a more serious note, her mega escape is going to be quite a spectacle and we are getting a lot of support from media and corporate organizations based on what we achieved with the mega illusion last year.

This escape is also different because anytime you see an escape of this nature, the magician is always hidden from view behind a cloth screen or curtain; this is to protect the magic secret. In this improved evolved presentation of such of a stunt, Ning will be attempting the escape in full-view of the audience at all times, atop of a multi-tiered center stage in a spiked steel cage, 14ft above ground.

Finally, this mega escape is really the lead-up to our permanent illusion show that will open for sneak previews in Aug 2008. I'm trying to talk to the owners of The Arena to offer us discounts (on top of the already discounted promotional rate) for magicians during the sneak previews.

Hey guys!! The Mega Escape is just about a month away (less than actually) and the Impalement Cage itself has just undergone a major redesign! It is going to be much meaner and you have to be there to see it for yourself! :)

I was there, after my dinner at Clarke Quay. Fantastic! And quite scary as an audience when you witnessed it because everything was done openly, no curtains.

Ning did an incredible job for this mega escape attempt in front of 4000+ people. It is, as far as we know, the world's first Full View Spike Escape of its kind and was nothing short of spectacular and heart-thumping for the audiences. What really struck a cord with the audience was that there was no covers of any kind. As Criss Angel were to say: "What you see, is what you get."

As most know, this was the official launch of "Ultimate Magic", Singapore's first permanent illusion show at The Arena. This mega escape created so much buzz in the media and tourism industry that it is probably the most PR covered magic event in Singapore history. It was hard work and our team did a great job and the local magic scene has never been at such a feverish pitch - mainstream attention-wise.

Thanks to all the magicians who came down to support. If you were there, you will know just how tense and in fear the audience was during the escape. Let's put it this way, we (the crew) were even more worried, even though we knew what was supposed to happen.

We found a video on YouTube. This is not posted by us as we have had no time to post produce any footage. For some reason, it is sideways but nevertheless it gives you an idea of the mega escape in real time. The beeping sound you hear is the countdown timer that was projected on a giant overhead screen. As you can watch, she made it out with just under 1 second to spare. Trust me when I say that if the spikes had dropped on her, it would be game over.

I'm extremely proud of Ning who stepped up to take on this challenge and elevated Singapore magic to another level with that special appeal she brings to mainstream and media interest. If you saw the amount of people taking photos of her and media wanting to interview her, you would agree that this is a level of celebrity that no other local magician has achieved before. As some of you would have read by now, the Mega Escape was a success on Saturday. :) It was really heart thumping for me - i had a bit of trouble with my handcuffs and my last lock, but I still did manage to get out in time. Whew!!

We managed to draw a 4,000+ strong crowd and I really want to thank EVERYONE who took time to came by to give your support. Thanks Shade and to all of you guys also who couldn't make it to the escape itself but still msged me your well-wishes! I went to watch the Mega Escape and my heart almost pop out! The atmosphere was really tensed and all the people there were very worried for Ning. She took really long during the first part and it was really running out of time.She escaped at the last second before the steel spike drop down. I can feel the stress at where i am standing, I really can't imagine if i were Ning, the stress is going to be too much for me.

I was actually one of the showcrew for the mega escape and i must say.. this is the most heart-stopping show EVER for me. In fact, if you google about it and look at some of the pictures online, I guess you'd see my stunned ashen face even after the escape concluded.

In any case, I'm so extremely proud that our very own 'Magic Babe' Ning pulled off the mega escape successfully (and thankful that she was only slightly injured in the process).
