TrillusionMagic in collaboration with MDIS will be conducting a Beginner’s Course for Magic in June.

While many of you in the Forums can hardly be classified as ‘beginners’, not many will have had the chance to learn about the theoretical aspects of our Art. Here is the full Course description:



Course Description

The Beginner's Course in Magic is the first step to take for aspiring amateur magicians. TrillusionMagic believes that everyone can unlock their potential to perform magic while appreciating it as a serious performance art.



Participants will NOT be given children’s magic props (like those found in gift shops), but will be taught basic sleight-of-hand and presentation skills so that they may perform magic with everyday objects. Participants will also be taught about important magic concepts such as misdirection and patter in order to perform magic effectively.



During the Course, participants will learn how to:

· locate a selected card that has been lost in a shuffled deck,

· penetrate a rubber band through another,

· vanish a borrowed dollar note and make it appear in an impossible location,

· push a borrowed coin through a table

· and much more!



Participants will also learn about:

· the seven magical effects of close-up magic,

· magical presentations and performance ideas,

· structuring magic tricks so that they are interesting and exciting

· and much more!



The Course has been conducted since 2006; more than 200 participants have benefited and enjoyed themselves during the Course. The Course is continually updated and refined to provide maximum learning value for participants.



The Beginner’s Course in Magic is the key to the secret and intriguing world of Magic!



Course Objectives

The Beginner's Course aims to enable participants to perform simple magic tricks anytime & anywhere by:

• imparting basic sleight-of-hand skills,

• emphasising essential concepts of close-up magic

• and increasing self-confidence and self-awareness of participants in the context of performing magic.





Participant’s Materials

Participants will be provided with the following:

1. Lecture Notes

2. Deck of Cards

3. Rubber bands

4. Small Magic Prop

Participants will also be awarded with a Certificate at the end of the Course.





TrillusionMagic focuses a lot of performance technique, so even though you might be very familiar with the tricks that are taught during the Course, you will still learn invaluable presentation ideas and technique. You will also learn some magical theory, things that are often ignored when learning from MTV-style videos. The Course is taught by TrillusionMagic’s close-up magic specialist, Farid.
