I think this has to be one of the most unique pieces of magic I have ever seen. Impromtu magis rejoice and be glad, for a powerful effect has come to this world!

Flow

Wow, it looks really good. Another great invention from the mind of Paul Harris. I do not really think that is impromptu? It looks too good to be true

LarryDK - May 11, 2008 07:03 AM (GMT)
I don't think its impromptu. It mention that it need under 10 sec to prepare the bottle. So Maybe the bottles and spectators are impromptu, but some other things are need to make it happen. MAGIC!

Ace - May 11, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
The effect is very old. The effect of Flow is exactly the same as Anti-Gravico by Bob Andre which was released in the 70s.

Although the effect is the same, Dan Hauss is using a different gimmick.

I'm not even sure if we still can get the gimmick here. I think it was banned in sg because it's a choking hazard.

llamalamer - May 19, 2008 05:08 AM (GMT)
You can. Haha. It's sold in most sundry shops.

j00cantseeme - May 19, 2008 12:34 PM (GMT)
Definitely not impromptu. Mama and apek shops everywhere sell this wonderful gimmick. Anyone tried it?

Sehnsucht - November 22, 2008 05:18 PM (GMT)
how do you ask the uncle at mamashops for the gimmick ar? I don't know how to phrase it.

Alexander - November 22, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hmmm. You sound like you are fishing for something. Maybe I'm wrong

But if you do go to the shops. They will mostly put the item on display. No need to phrase it.

MagicalLobo - November 23, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
I've tried the gimmick from shops. I dont think it is very good. Buying the gimmick from the trick should be better. They should have improved it or find better quality ones from US to sell.

Sehnsucht - November 23, 2008 10:40 AM (GMT)
oh sorry i didn't meant to fish for something. My bad. Sorry once again.

TheSilentillusionist - November 23, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
I've used the ones bought from provision shops. Not really good compared to the original gimmick sold.

Anyway, it's not really ex to get the gimmick online though.

ghostace94 - December 22, 2008 12:25 PM (GMT)
I didn't know there is a gimmick you can buy that is better. So far I have been using the ones bought from mama shops and they work quite well except it will break easily if left for about 15 Minutes. Not good if I have to prepare early and bring it around.

wkc - July 24, 2009 01:04 AM (GMT)
I also want to buy this trick but do not know whether it is really impoumtu and can setup infront of the audiences. :)

christo - July 24, 2009 01:41 AM (GMT)
definately not

wkc - July 24, 2009 04:49 AM (GMT)
Then it is not call impoumptu already.. so sad.. Any guys know where to buy flow? many of the shop do not sell..

rtdmark - October 3, 2009 09:05 AM (GMT)
Can the gimmick be bought in our local magic stores?.

mudbuddha - October 3, 2009 10:09 AM (GMT)
Yes...it can even be found in your neighbourhood mamak store (i think so ... well at least it can be found in the mamak store near where i stay) :)

rtdmark - October 3, 2009 02:30 PM (GMT)
Lol. The above post said that those gimmicks from the mama shops doesn't last. So i was wondering if any magic stores would sell the original gimmick.

shio - October 4, 2009 08:59 AM (GMT)
Yes.Look for jay will do

rtdmark - October 4, 2009 12:13 PM (GMT)
LOL. Don't you think it is a little weird that anyone can go to the magic store and ask for the Flow gimmick even if they did not buy the DVD.

alvinterence - October 6, 2009 08:24 AM (GMT)
If you're still searching for the answer.

It's not impromptu. But you can carry the gimmick with you anywhere. The set-up will take you less than 10 seconds (with some practice of course) and it ends extremely clean.

In comparison with the official gimmick vs. the one sold at those shops locally, I prefer the official gimmick as it works better (for those who knows, knows why).

There's however a setback if the trick doesn't work - yes it does happen frequently with the local ones. You gotta think of an out, or worst if it spills all over your spectator.

Prepare to run away. Haha.

ChiaWK - October 6, 2009 10:54 AM (GMT)
Rtdmark, just go ahead and buy it. You sound like you are trying to fish out the secret.

rtdmark - October 6, 2009 04:23 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I know i sound like I am fishing, but really i know the secret. My friend has the DVD. Anyway i went to check out and I heard (I don't know how true) that the original and the ones you buy outside works just as well.

Magicdow - October 7, 2009 12:59 AM (GMT)
Then your friend should be able to answer all your questions.

alvinterence - October 7, 2009 03:58 AM (GMT)
rtdmark, may I suggest you watch the DVD carefully once more. Dan covered almost everything a performer should know about Flow and its refill. All the best :)

rtdmark - October 7, 2009 05:10 AM (GMT)
Yeah he said it is available in our local magic stores. But the shop i went to doesn't sell it. They told me to get it from outside.

alvinterence - October 12, 2009 05:36 PM (GMT)
Buy it online :) It inexpensive and good. Plus it's delivered all the way to your house! Haha.

rtdmark - October 13, 2009 04:21 PM (GMT)
I can't. I don't have a card of anything that i can use to pay online. I guess i will just get it from somewhere outside.

Bryan - October 16, 2009 02:16 PM (GMT)
i did experiment with the mama shop type. flow was intact after 2 days. I guess this pretty much sums it up.

The way i make it impromtu is to bring the refill with me and when i find my chance. i pick up a bottle and excuse myself for a moment.

On another occasion i travelled around the whole day with flow and used it at the end of the day. Works well.

I must admit i was extremely nervous performing with flow after travelling around with it for the whole day. Just imagine if i failed! Well, i gained confidence after a few tries.

ChiaWK - January 1, 2010 03:35 PM (GMT)
I regularly perform this effect and now my 'supply' is almost all used up...

Bryan or anyone who has the effect, what other brand (besides the official gaff) have you tried and which is the best? Interested to try out before going buying the actual refills.

Please don't type anything here - if anyone knows, please shoot me a pm. Thanks.

Justice - June 26, 2011 04:54 PM (GMT)
I've been experimenting with Flow and comes to a conclusion that you cant leave the set up bottle for a certain period of time as the gimmick will be rendered ineffective. Meaning, don't expect to set it up in the morning and hope Flow can be performed in the later afternoon. There is a critical time

I have experimented with various conditions, but I guess if I reveal it here, the layman will probably figure it out. So if anyone wants to know, drop me a PM and I will gladly explain it :)

wkc - June 28, 2011 03:48 PM (GMT)
i had a older version of flow which use glass bottles.. haha..

heartsofclubs - January 2, 2012 01:52 PM (GMT)
I've read through the post. Rather interesting discussion.

I have performed this countless times. However, I havent been able to solve one problem.

Here's the problem to those who know the effect:
How does one clear it all when all is done?
Marks not engraved, but going around the point of where it is.

Coded language for magician code protection? haha
