Some review from The Magic Café:

My first review, and it is on Coin Two.

Production quality 10 / 10, Coin One is a beauty while Coin Two is an art.

2 routines are taught, one need a g*****k you already own if you do coin magic, the other is impromptu and use only 3 coins, but need to wear a j****t.

Teaching, same as Coin One, over the shoulder performer view helps to teach coin magic a lot, besides, it will have audience view and slow motion right after each phrase.

The best value of this DVD is in two parts: details and finesse, & extras.

This is the FIRST time Homer Liwag actually speaks and you can hear. Do we all still remember several years ago people in magic community believe that Homer Liwag is a fiction character created by Chris Kenner? Now it is your best opportunity to see and listen the legend face to face.

Besides, he will show both routines in front of you step by step again and he leaves nothing behind… (watch his serious thought about J.W. grip… he is teasing someone … hahaha…)

Extras: Two extras are found in this DVD, one is called All in details (there is a youtube cut version, subscribe Homer Liwag channel on youtube to watch.) The other is… I’ll keep a secret, it is too hilarious… all I can tell you is even David Copperfield is on screen this time!

I am honestly say that the material about coin magic in this DVD almost equal to Homer Liwag’s lecture about Coin Magic, if he ever will do one which I wish I can see that at least once in my life… Young people may think Homer is new to magic, NO! C2 is a creation by Troy Hosser in early 90’s, so this is a record of creation more than 15 years ago, and it is still rocks and ahead of us & spectators!

So what is Homer Liwag thinking about in magic now then? I don’t know, I believe that such legend keeps on thinking and way ahead of us at least more than 10 years…

Now it is time to buy the remaining Coin Two (if you still have a chance to buy it.) I will get some nice coins and g*****k and stay in my house to practice everyday until Coin 3 release…

If I must pick Coin Magic DVDs and leave all others left behind, Cointwo & CoinOne has my highest recommendation.

(Easter eggs found, and one show the endless possibilities of C2.1, Coin Two definitely a monster routine with endless possibilities! Practical for workers and an excellent examples of routine construction and misdirection!)

Coin Two is absolutely incredible! I had a chance to watch it complete and all I can say is wow. There are two routines: The first uses a g*****k and the second is not, but you need a j****t. Both routines are impressive, compact, and can be done anywhere at anytime.

The video production and packaging are meticulous and beautiful. A lot of time and thought went into the production. It is both artful and instructional. The cover is bound by a cloth band and unfolds when opened. The package contains the dvd and interesting color placard inserts showing Homer producing the Coin Two video. Each DVD sleeve is hand numbered and signed. Limited to 1000 copies. It reminds me of the old days of vinyl records and the cool covers/inserts you would get. No crappy standard plastic DVD case here.

The moves are broken down step by step, with advanced stop action film, computer generated graphics, and written instruction layed over the top. The whole thing is set to a nice musical background. No monotone lecture, no goofy audience members or stooge actors pretending that they are amazed, no drunk Las Vegas tourists, no mistakes or mis-editing, no poor VHS quality video or bad sound. Everything about the video production scream professional quality. It is a dream to watch.

Lots of intricate sleights and moves taught here, some familiar, others not. Each move is broken down step by step. I have no problem understanding what needs to be done, just practice to do it right. Homer provides some extra finesse instruction so you can really hone the routine sharp.

Homer sets the standard when it comes to DVD instruction. He really puts his heart and soul into these ventures. I love Coin One. And now Coin Two has my vote for magic DVD of the year. Great job Mr. Liwag, come and get your Oscar.

Now when is Coin Three coming?????

10 out of 10.

Like the reviewer says, Homer in Coin2 actually speaks and he
give some excellent tips on the finer espects of coin handling,
which is great. And there's that very cool Himber Vanish which
Homer took some time to teach.

Lastly you need a good quality(and probably expensive one too)
"g******" to do one of the routines but it's well worth it. It's
something every coin worker shud have.

Hey doublelifter, in coin two, are you saying that a normal one will not really work?

I have coin one, and it was groundbreaking. Even if you don't use the routine, the production is still fun to practice. How about coin two? What can i get in coin two that i can't get any where else in the market?

Hi Chan Zian,

IMO any [ is fine. Be it expanded, unexpanded, half dollar or dollar. The set of coins Homer used in the filming of Coin Two was a custom set made by Schoolcraft. It is a soft Morgan set with a ma****** [. The advantages of using this set is that it minimizes the [ and coin talking. Secondly, a ma****** [ allows the performer to toss the coin in the air to convince only 2 coins after the first coin has vanished. Although this wasnt mentioned in the DVD but i think it can add a nice touch. On a side note, if you think of getting a 'good' set of gaff coins, i wouldnt recommend Schoolcraft's. I have coin gaffs from many coin makers namely Lassen, Schoolcraft, Van Dukkom etc and IMO Lassen has the best coin gaffs in the world. You can't find anything better than a Lassen set.

Personally, i am a bit disappointed with Coin 2. Maybe i had too much expectation from Homer after watching Coin 1 but that is my opinion. Coin 2 is based on the very populer effect called Extroydinary by Troy Hooser. Homer adds some nice touches to the routine though.

There is another version of this 3 coin production and vanish. It requires only 3 coins and something else. I wont reveal it on the forum. Personally, i prefer this version but i feel Justin Miller does a better 3 coin vanish in Silver Dream.

Overall, you may not find any new routines in Coin 2, but Homer touches on finesse which you might not find in other coin DVDs. I think that section (along with the production) is worth the price of the DVD. Without finesse, coin magic would not look beautiful. Totally different from card magic. An average card worker or even a beginner can amaze the audience even without finesse but not for coin magic. Just my 2 cents worth and hope this helps.

Hi Sherman, long time no see. Good to have you pop by every now and then.

Anyway thanks for the detail explanation. I do agree that Coin2 was riding on the wave that Coin1 created. I was indeed disappointed when I saw the effect on youtube. I am certainly half hearted about buying it.

3Coins production and vanish effects are of abundance in the market. Not sure if another dvd on this effect should be bought and added to my drawer.

But the part about finesse definitely interests me. I do agree that coin magic is alot about finesse, but i can't agree that card magic is the way you put it. Nevertheless, if i do get it one day, I will post a review. Again, thanks Sherman.
