Hey guys,
I'm sure you've seen the media coverage and promo for the mega illusion over the weeks. "The Impossible Journey" is happening in just 4 days - 24 Sept 2008, Wed, 7.30pm at the Central River Prmomenade (Clarke Quay MRT).
Ning & myself will be attempting to teleport 3 spectators across the Singapore River in 2.5 seconds. They are not random spectators picked on the day but are 3 shoppers who entered a promotion. Central has picked them and we will be meeting them for the first time tomorrow.
What makes this illusion particularly significant is the fact the it is an illusion that spans such a large space (diagonally over the SG river to the Read Bridge, which is the bridge that connects Clarke Quay to Merchant Court Hotel). Also, it is the first ever magic event endorsed by the Singapore Tourism Board. It probably is also the most expensive one-off illusion ever presented in Singapore before.
It has been particularly challenging with the organizing of the entire illusion, especially licensing from no few than 5 government agencies and 4 commerical organizations that each have their interests to protect. Part of the reason is that there has never been anything like this done before so there is no precedent.
The illusion itself has been technically challenging on so many levels. You might be surprised to know that this illusion incorporates many mentalism techniques that you would not expect in a physical illusion. But thoughts, concepts and methods from Banacheck, Maven, Tamariz, Knepper, Corinda and Waters have weaved into the presentation of this illusion.
