Hi all

if you guys have seen jay sankey's mr clean coins across, you would have seen him 'explain' a move he calls "pointy transfer"

actually he doesnt really break it down, so i would like to ask if anyone knows where to learn this move properly? is this move his or some other magi's?

thanks alot

As far as I know, it's Sankey's own move, and highly believable too because it's just so him. But you will need our resident coin man to confirm this.

It's actually called Pointing Transfer. This move was created by Jay Sankey and Richard Sanders.

I think he explained it in detail in his Revolutionary Coin magic vol 1 DVD.

Our Bernard is correct. The name of the move is called Pointing Transfer. As far I know, it is a move jointly created by Richard Sanders and Jay Sankey.

I believe Pointing Tansfer 1st appeared in Jay Sankey's Sankeytised videos. It's a good and convincing move but not easy to master...

Cheers
Jerome

REally? Where can I buy those DVDs?

I am a newbie in magic... like maddened. :P :off:

jeromefang - September 30, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
Oh our TBMIS has become a newbie haha....

Axl, if you wanna learn the move. You can buy Bernard to BS and he'll make sure your pointing transfer better than Jay Sankey's... :D

muscleaxl - September 30, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
Ok, I thought maddened is suppose to treat us to BS?

Anyway... on a more serious note, the pointing transfer is the same one used in Greg Wilson 3/4 Across?

jeromefang - October 1, 2008 07:33 AM (GMT)
Yup bro.. That's correct. It's the same one in Greg Wilson 3/4 Across in his On the Spot video. He does'nt do a good job teaching the move though...

I think Jay Sankey's video would be better to learn the move.

i have jay sankey's Revolutionary Coin magic . just felt that the explaination was kinda short. anyone uses this move regularly? care to share?

oh and i dun like the idea of displaying the coin near the fingertips, then executing the pointing transfer. i feel that this display looks wierd, especially when the rest of my coin routines display coins with coins in the palm area.

i have adapted a method to do this move after i displayed the coin in the middle of the palm, but it requires a additional 1 sec (when carrried out smoothly), which my magic buddies have commented that the 1s pause is kinda glaring (w/o patter). and i use my thumb to help me transfer the coin.

1 sec doesn sound like a long time. In coin magic, any moment that your fingers are fidgeting with the fist closed is going to arouse suspicion.

I can't imagine any other way to execute the transfer other then the way Sankey has suggested. Displaying the coins on which ever part of the hand is really a small matter. In fact, displaying it on your palm in position to do a CP is even more weird then displaying the coins on your fingers.

This move is all about timing and attitude. Don't make a move out of it, its done as your talking.
Does any one want me to put p a demo of it. Not a how to of course but a demo.

Eh... please don't. If you put up a routine, it's fine, but not a demo on a single move. Just like never do a colour change as a standalone, easily exposed.

Sorry didn't mean to scare you....lol of course it would be a routine using that sleight.

Phew... what a scare.

leolight - October 14, 2008 04:27 PM (GMT)
This is a sleight or move that is very 'Sankey'. By that I mean, it works for his style of performance, the way he moves when he performs, presentation manner... if that makes sense. I have seen some magicians perform this but do not have his overall performing style, so when it comes to the transfer, it looks very fishy and unnatural. Greg Wilson has that same type of dynamic active style which lends itself to the move.

Same with a Han Pein Chen type move... your performing style does not fit that type of move, it looks very suspicious when the move is executed.

Just something to take note of.
