Title: Recommand Some Good Tricks / Tricks U Know Of.
Pseudo - September 19, 2004 07:16 AM (GMT)
As I'm still new and indirectly influenced by blaine, my tricks are mostly what blaine does in his TV special.
I want to learn more good tricks but not so sure where to proceed now. I'm currently proceeding to coin tricks. I'm thinking of getting Revolution @ E. Anyone has that vid? Shall I get it or look for better source.
What are your recommandations? :D

You just missed some of the sales that were going on in the market place unfortunately. There were some really good 2nd hand DVDs selling. But dig around the Marketplace and you will find there's a lot of stuff you can get a lot cheaper than the shops in sg.
And you will find there is a lot A LOT more to magic than just what David Blaine does as well. B)

The "Marketplace" section under the "Fellowship of the Ring" area on top. You can't miss it. That's the place to discuss sales/trades/exchange of magic gear.

I recommend Revolution from E... Very good trick and od get a reaction lol. :o
Aloy - September 27, 2004 05:57 PM (GMT)
Both hands ends clean yes.....but i find the handling a little awkward and unnatural.
It's not a move that you can use with other applications....or at least i feel...
illusionist - September 28, 2004 01:33 AM (GMT)
The handleing not really awkward. Just be lose and natural. I did it for a few strange in orcahrd and their eyes was wide open lol :o YOu can borrow a coin or use your own. You can not only vanish coin but other small object and change a coin to a dice..
Magicdow - September 28, 2004 02:08 PM (GMT)
So in Revolution, you vanished the coin, then what? I think to pay that kind of money is not worth it. Might as well buy a dvd or a book.

To find new tricks, read old books. There're some real gems in some old books.

I say check out Greg Wilson's stuff like On the Spot and Card Stunts... some of the greatest close-up stuff I have seen to date. Joy

How about Jay Sankey? Namely: Snow Storm and Paperclipped.
And if you got balls of steel, maybe Airtight. If you can pull it off 100% of the time, you've got some real magic here.

If u like blaine style try to get resources on how to produce the selected card extremely mind-boggling experience such as use simple but effective sleight - such as betram change, snap change,hot-shot,rising card,pop-up change etc for card tricks. If u want to be more extreme plan for the most unconventional way of producing your card. e.g. in Plasma TV infront of Specialist centre when u do the tricks!! He..he.just an idea..
Brendan - October 21, 2004 03:42 PM (GMT)
I like born to perform by Oz pearlman.
Ellusionist vids are great too...
If u are really into sleight of hand for cards... daryl's Encylopedia of Card Sleights vol 1-8 are great!

suggest that you get something else other than revolution. spend something more worthwhile, imho.
try michael ammar's complete introduction to coin magic and maybe jay sankey's rev coin magic.

Try getting some basic stuff first like Born to perform. Then pick the sleights that you like and focus on them eg. Gregory Wilson's double take or Richard Kaufman's on the pass. After that, get a Bill Malone or David Regal vid to learn how to get the crowd to enjoy your magic. There are some great tricks in Bill Malone's and David Regal's video such as 'maxitwist' by Bill Malone and 'Out of the Borough' by David Regal. After you've done everything, get Jay Sankeys 'Beyond Secrets' and 'Create Your Own Magic'. You'll turn into a card god eventually.
P.S. I do not do David Blaine's material at all as I focus on table magic. However, I have watched a video of myself performing 'Impossible Transpo' and 'Ace Shake' to strangers at Orchard Rd and I realised that the audience gives really big reactions. So basically, don't stray away from Blaine's material. I'm gonna go back to the basics again for awhile
Nick.
