This is a repeated post within the same context:

You know, it'll be nice if you properly introduced yourself in the intros and hellos section of this forum before asking our members for information. SMC is a resource of very nice people, but it doesn't mean they are FREE. ;)

Do the right thing (or at least the polite thing) and make a proper introduction first - would you like it if a complete stranger came up to you on the street and asked you to give him a review of a DVD?

That being said; hope to see you around.

It's pretty neat provided you are willing to put in the time to practice all the sleights and angles.

I found it extremely hard to use. Not that it doesn't work - it definitely is capable of doing everything you saw in the preview video.

To get the vanishes to look smooth, you will need to invest many, many hours of practice. Just like any other thing in magic.

Just seen this full video.

This is very true, your hand must be big enough to cover the object that you are going to vanish and some clothing choice that suit this routine.

However, its quite expensive i thought. So be sure if anyone is going to buy this ^_^

Another problem is with bigger items. Not that it is not possible just that because of the size and weight sometimes you can actually expose yourself due to certain movement and sound.

In fact i think its rather steep for its pricing, if i had a bigger budget i would rather pick black widow any day.

Just got my Gecko couple of days back...was kinda disappointed by it. Not that it doesn't do all those slick vanishes, as with all magic with sufficient practice, it does all the slick vanishes shown in the promo video.

I am kinda disappointed at some of the restrictions it has. Hope i can find fellow users of the Gecko and discuss about it.

Btw...any fellow users know where to find the refills for the Gecko? That little refills that comes along when you buy it..doesn't last forever...besides buying online...any other places??

Please do not try to sell your items. Please read the rules.

Hey i thought of buying gecko too, just to check it need the refill to work? is the sleight difficult?

mudbuddha - September 29, 2009 05:40 AM (GMT)
The package comes with a small quantity of refills...but the refills are available locally.

renguard - September 29, 2009 09:20 AM (GMT)
Do u think its worth the price? so it need the refill to work?

alvinterence - October 1, 2009 10:51 AM (GMT)
I will have to agree with the other negative respond on the gimmick.

It didn't work well for me when I tired to vanish object slightly bigger than my palm. And the idea of it not being slightly angle sensitive is a disappointment to me. However, it's absolutely perfect in a controlled situation like a stage performance, etc.

You might wanna consider an alternative like The Raven 2 - it makes stuff appear and disappear!

renguard - October 1, 2009 01:45 PM (GMT)
Ok then i think i better not buy since there is so much negative comments about it

Hi guys, just got my gecko recently, how ever i have been using the item quite a lot recently and felt its running kind of low... and i saw someone say it can be bought locally, mind if you pm me where to get it???

also for those who have been using it for a while now, how do you guys save on the item so we do not need to purchase the refill so many times???

i wish i can practice more with some sort of actual weight and routine to go through as i got big hands so i wish i could work on it more...

I feel its like the raven.. you get to enjoy playing it for a few days and then it gets stored in a corner where the white elephant lives. The thing is.. no body is gonna see you walk about vanishing everything.. and even if you vanish one thing, they'd ask for you to vanish another and another and another consecutively.. r u able to do it?

and if it boils down to throwing a patter and moving off, does it mean they will be interested in seeing you do it again in future?

yah.. just my take.. if you enjoy seeing yourself vanish thing <- no S included for a distinct purpose. then you can get the gecko. OTherwise.. if you want to just ahve some fun playing with vanishing things, go get a raven. haha (:

k.. hope my post shed a little light to those who excitedly wanna buy something costly to play for a while

One thing the Gecko has over other similar products is its pricing. One check on google and magic stores, and you'll see why!

Tonnes of practise to pull it off too, no shortcuts when it comes to Gecko. I will prefer a product which is enable or allow a user to vanish something and then re-produce it immediately, on the spot! Instead of walking away..

One thing I like about Gecko is that when doing it properly, you can vanish significantly large objects. And Gecko has this attachments, called Gecko Extremes, and its reasonably price too. It gives you more variety and flexibility, so the user has more options.
